Born and raised in the Netherlands, Joris started out as a copywriter before finding his true calling in directing. Ever since his first commercial, he’s been driven by the belief that humor can save us all — a theme that runs subtly and sincerely through his work.
With his copywriting background, Joris approaches every project conceptually, instinctively choosing the visual style that best serves the idea. His positive energy and enthusiasm inspire everyone on set, while his films combine contemporary aesthetics with dynamic storytelling.
He has worked with brands like Vodafone, Heineken, Volkswagen, McDonald’s and Andrelon, and agencies such as TBWA, Wunderman Thompson and DDB.
His work has earned international recognition — though he prefers not to count awards. Because for Joris, work should be taken seriously, but never too seriously.
